Curanderismo is a way of viewing and interacting with, the natural world and the spiritual energies of people and elemental forces. At the time when I met Maestra Grace, I was trying to make sense of these physical and unseen forces I was beginning to come in contact with after many encounters with death and loss. It was through Maestra Grace's teachings and stories that I experienced a rebirth and affirmations to what I was experiencing. Beyond showing me what traditional healing systems look like and how they’ve functioned for our ancestors, what Maestra teaches is how to deeply revere sacred ways of knowing and the responsibility one takes on when on this journey of healing.

I initially went to see Grace after experiencing a trauma in May 2010. The physical wounds had healed and I was seeing a conventional Ph.D. Therapist for PTSD and anxiety treatment. I still felt that something was off, not right. I felt fragmented and soiled. My healing experience with Grace involved a talk, or platica, and then a limpia or cleansing . The results were profound and life changing.
Throughout the treatment I found Grace to be professional though still warm and easy talk to. She is keenly perceptive, precise and wise beyond her years. I have tremendous amount of respect for Grace and in still in awe of her knowledge of “ traditional Medicine”. I am grateful to have had the good fortune to meet her during my time of great need. My connection with and understanding of the traditions of my southern Colorado and northern New Mexico roots has deepened, since my initial meeting with Grace.
